first of all, i love the colours. the slightly blues colours set a great mood which works really well with your dramatic lighting. but most of all, i think the lighting is very well done. the flower on the left side contains a few blown out areas, but i don't really mind about that. the shadows on the other hand are just amazing, especially on the right hand flower they give an enormous depth to the image and make it almost look mysterious. the handle on the left of the bucket is a nice touch, without it there would have been too much negative space, but the highlights on the handle are a nice compromise, they do not distract from the main subject, but they do fill the emptiness. beautiful photograph
Gorgeous shot, I truly love it! I like how you composed it to cut off the barrel/planter/basket to emphasize the rule of thirds, yet the actual focused part of the image is still dead center. It's a perfect example of when to use and break the rules of photography! I love the lighting, how it creates a beautiful texture on the barrel, but slowly disappears into the background on the right side. I also love how the flowers move from showing every contour, to slowly seeing these beautiful shadows that again disappear into the background eventually. The berries create a beautiful pop of color and add additional texture to the shot. Two suggestions, the flower in the center, closest to the left side is over exposed, to the point of losing most of the detail. And the object on the right side is nonexistent to the point of distracting. If it was a flower, the viewer would understand and accept it's presence. But it doesn't appear to be a flower, and is therefore an added object and sort of distracting. otherwise a beautiful portrait and piece of art!
